Can I expedite my certification?

For new applicants or certified clients seeking certification of a new field, site, or facility on a compressed timeline, PCO offers the option for expedited certification services. Payment for expedited services (see Fee Schedule) is expected at the time of a new application submission or added certification request.

Applications or updates received less than 45 business days prior to the requested approval date must be expedited. The extent to which your service may be expedited lies in your ability to comply with the National Organic Program and your timely responses to requests for information.

Note: PCO will review expedited requests and may not accept requests due to administrative capacity.

How much does expedited certification cost?

The flat fee of $3,000 for expedited services will be charged in addition to standard certification fees, inspection fees, and the new applicant fee. Expedited services usually incur higher than average inspection expenses. Please see Fee Schedule for the full list of fees.

Expedited fee is per scope. The flat fee of $1,500 per scope of certification will be charged in addition to standard certification fees and inspection fees. Expedited services usually incur higher than average inspection expenses.

The timing of some Expedited certification requests may require an inspection in addition to the annual inspection and will incur additional cost. Please see Fee Schedule for the full list of fees.

What is offered with the expedited fee?

As part of our expedited services process, PCO provides the following upon full payment for Expedited services:

  • The application receives prioritized attention for initial review
  • PCO will prioritize inspection assignment and inspection will occur as soon as possible
  • The inspection report will be submitted within five (5) business days of the Exit Interview
  • PCO will review the inspection report within five (5) business days of receiving the inspection report and identify any outstanding issues to granting certification
  • Certification will be granted upon successful verification of compliance and resolution of issues found during the Certification Review process

Can I request an exact date of certification?

PCO’s Expedited certification service does not guarantee certification by a certain date. PCO reserves the right to refuse Expedited services based on administrative capacity. PCO will provide timely communication about our ability to deliver expedited services.

What is expected of me?

  • A complete Expedited Request Form
  • A complete application (new clients)
  • Complete information as outlined on the expedited form (PCO certified clients)
  • Full payment of all regular certification fees and additional Expedited fees. Services will not begin until full payment is received. (Inspection fees will be billed separately, upon completion of the inspection.)
  • Timely responses to requests for information during the application, inspection, and certification review processes. If additional information is needed, the certification timeline will depend on the timeliness of your response.
